The Reverend Wanda Jean Moore is a native of Sylva, NC. For the past nineteen years she has served as a teacher's assistant in the public schools of North Carolina. In addition, she is a junior at Mars Hill College, majoring in Education, and recently received a 4-H sponsored scholarship that is given to an adult advisor who wishes to return to school. As an eight year old, Rev. Moore moved, with her mother, to Connecticut, where she lived prior to returning to North Carolina in 1990. After completing her education in the Bridgeport public schools, she attended Housatonic Community College. In 1985, she entered Aeon Bible College of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the Word, Inc., Connecticut site, where she completed her ministerial training. In 1988, she became a licensed minister of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the Word, Inc, becoming an ordained minister in 1998. Rev. Moore has worked a wide variety of jobs in the business world, as well as holding many offices in the church. She has been the usher board president, a church secretary/bookkeeper, a Sunday school teacher/director and a missionary. Currently, she is Assistant Pastor of God's Holy Tabernacle in Sylva, NC. Extra activity has always been an important part of Rev. Moore's life. While a student, she was a member of the Wantu Wayzui Club (African American student), ALPICE Club, and member of the National Thespian Society. Today, she not only is active in her local church, she, also, helps other area churches and is a member of Harris Regional Hospital's Chaplaincy Program. As a member of the One Dozen Board of Directors, she looks forward to improving life for minority women and youth of Western North Carolina. |
