Lakeshia Gallaspy was born in raised in Laurel, Mississippi. She is the eldest of four daughters. She learned at an early age how to be a “go getter”, how to set goals and strive to be a productive citizen and not settle for anything. She has an eight year old daughter and they currently reside in Whittier, North Carolina.
Lakeshia received her Bachelors and Masters in Social Work from the University of Southern Mississippi. Her passion for people and helping others succeed through social justice is why she chose this field.
Lakeshia is currently employed with the United States Department of Agriculture Forest Service at the Oconaluftee Job Civilian Conservation Corps in Cherokee, North Carolina. The Oconaluftee Job Civilian Conservation Corps provide job training to youth 16-24 years of age. She is working in the capacity of a Trainee Employee Assistance Program Specialist.
She enjoys spending time with family and friends. Also, she loves to travel and learn about different cultures.
