Appalachian Women's Entreprenuerial Project

The Appalachian Women's Entrepreneurial Project (AWE) is a program that connects Western North Carolina women with one another, with resources (including training and technical assistance and with markets - for the purpose of creating new and expanded business.

AWE is a project of HandMande in America funded by Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation and the Tides Foundation. HandMade has been working in community and economic development in Western North Carolina since 1993, with an emphasis on building on the cultural assets of the region.

Five networks have been established to date, in Madison, Graham, Cherokee, Yancey, and Rutherford. These networks provide group and individual support, technical assistance, and the necessary infrastructure for training and development.

Participants will attend a monthly progress session, and classes that will help them chart realistic goals and set milestone objectives on the way to achieving a measure of success.

For information, please call 828-321-2273.
