Jean Busch

 

JEAN BUSCH hails from Connecticut, where she lived until she completed her education. In 1986, Jean and her husband moved to western North Carolina. In 1993, she opened her salon, Turning Heads by Jean, the first female Black-owned (and currently the only black owned) business in Cherokee County.

For the past three years, Jean has been the coordinator of the annual Multi-Cultural Women's Development Conference. It is her outstanding leadership that motivates ODWC members to produce this annaul event.

On August 25, 2004, Jean was one of ten women to be honored by the Western North Carolina Women's Coalition as a Woman to Match Our Mountains, an award recognizing outstanding contributions to women and girls in western North Carolina.

Jean is an accomplished basket weaver and gourd carver and decorator. In her spare time, she supports her grandson in his numerous extra curricular activities.
