S. Lynnette Camby biography

S. Lynette Camby In 1992, I found myself taking my four children and walking out of a 13-year marriage. My husband, at that time, was a severe alcoholic. I walked out with my four boys, my car, $35 cash and the clothes on our backs. I was forced into the welfare system.

Since there was no way I could survive and give my boys a decent life on what minimum wage job paid, I applied to, and was accepted into, college. I began a new adventure. The next 6 years were spent making a new life for my boys and myself. During this time, I completed 18-21 credit hours per semester in college, worked 30 hours a week to comply with the welfare requirements, and raised my boys. I never missed a ballgame or a school event (all 4 boys played basketball and baseball). I make the Dean's Lists every semester and served on several presidential committees at the college. After receiving a BA in Corporate Communications, I landed a wonderful job at Biltmore Press, Inc. I have been here for 5 years and love my career more than ever.

All my life I have heard women say that they were stuck in a bad marriage and couldn't do anything about it. I have also heard other women, who have children to support, say they didn't see a way out. I have a low tolerance for women that use the phrase "I can't". With God's help, there is nothing that He and I together can't accomplish. So if I can do it, you can do it too.
