I am Janice Hilda Inabinett, Storyteller, Social worker, Consultant, and I extend guidance and respectful support that honors growth.
All of my work has a basis in the age-old Art of Storytelling. I began, in childhood, telling with my family and friends and I now perform professionally to the young and old. Using the power of storytelling in groups and organizations allows me to provide interactive experiences that promote healing, balance and conscious living.
I am co-founder of The Western North Carolina Black Storytelling! Conference and Concert, a founding member of the Asheville Storytelling Guild and a member of the National Storytelling Network.
My employment career, spanning four decades, includes work with Shell Oil Company, the City of New York, the YWCA of Greater Pittsburgh (Pennsylvania, USA), and the State of North Carolina. Since my retirement from North Carolina Public Health at the end of 2002, I have been able to pursue my dream of supporting individuals, groups and organizations as they proceed toward their excellence.
I was born and grew up in Western North Carolina (October 30, 1941 - Swain County), graduated from Allen High School in Asheville, and attended Winston-Salem State University for an undergraduate degree in education ('62). I hold a Master's Degree in Social Work (UNC - Chapel Hill - '76). I reside in downtown Bryson City, North Carolina.
