I am D. C. Bennett, a loving wife, mother of two children and a business consultant and owner of a business planning and development company for the past seven (7) years. I am a native of western North Carolina and I currently reside in Asheville, North Carolina. I attended Sycamore Church of God in Christ.
After a twenty-six (26) year career as a Financial Counselor in the healthcare industry, I decided to take a leap of faith and start my own medical billing business. I returned to school and received training on how to write and develop a business plan. Everyone knows that a business plan is a must prior to starting a business! I had the management skills, leadership skills, administrative skills, financing and most of that “go get it” mentality. After many mistakes and thousands of dollars later I realized that there were some things that are just not captured in a class room setting. Only hands-on life experiences can prepare you for the unexpected. A failure is never a failure unless you give up! If you learn something and can walk away with wisdom and knowledge, that failure becomes a lesson learned! You now have a golden nugget on how not to do business. I want to inspire and teach others how to start businesses and stay in business from the costly mistakes that I made with my very first business. D. C. Bennett & Associates, LLC was born in July 2000. I want to foster in my clients what I have learned over the past seven (7) years from my mentors.
D. C. Bennett & Associates has received certification and recognition as a Minority Business Owner and also by HUB (Historically Underutilize Business) and is a member of the Asheville Chamber of Commerce and is in the process of becoming a Chamber member in several other cities in North Carolina and Tennessee. D. C. Bennett & Associates is in the early stages of developing a Business Alliance Group for business owners to promote economic growth in their communities and among business owners themselves, finances, marketing and people. It is time that we start to do business with one another.
D. C. Bennett believes and lives by this philosophy, “develop confidence in your self and your own abilities. Enter every activity without any mental thought to the possibility of defeat. Concentrate on your strengths instead of your weaknesses, on the solution instead of the “problem”.
D. C. Bennett received training and education from Shaw University Cape Center in Asheville, Montreat College, AB Technical College and seminars and workshops. D. C. Bennett’s role models are JESUS, her father and mother. The business news sources utilized by D. C. Bennett are The Wall Street Journal, Black Enterprises, Entrepreneur and Inc. magazines.
D. C. Bennett’s favorite notable quote is, “excuses are the tools of the incompetent that build bridges to nowhere.”
